Dennis Charles Gronert, age 61 of Cannon Falls, and formerly of Minneapolis and New York, died unexpectedly at home on Saturday morning, March 21, 2009.
Dennis was born on September 10, 1947 in Jamaica, New York, the son of Edward and Ruth (Schult) Gronert. He graduated in 1965 from Floral Park Memorial High School in Floral Park, NY.
Dennis was employed with Pan Am from 1967-1982. He then went on to work with the New York State Police in the Supreme Court Division from 1982-1994, attaining sergeant status. In 1994, he moved to Minnesota. He resided in Minneapolis until moving to Cannon Falls in 2003. While in Minnesota, he was employed with General Security Services Corporation (G.S.S.C.), most recently working at MSP Airport.
He married Kimberly Nordaune on August 16, 1997.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Kimberly of Cannon Falls; his children, Melissa (Leonard) Speicher of Bohemia, NY, Allison (Peter) Profeta of East Islip, NY and Christopher Gronert of Long Island, NY; five grandchildren, Brendon, Victoria, Caelyn, Tucker and Garrett; twin brother, Gary (Michaele) Gronert of Floral Park, NY; niece, Amy Gronert and nephew, Graig Gronert, both of NY; parents-in-law, Kenneth and Marilyn Nordaune of Lakeville; and two sisters-in-law, Vicki Nordaune (Laura Connelly) of Eden Prairie and Dana Nordaune (Jennifer Felion) of Austin, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. A gathering will follow at the Mill Street Tavern, 410 Mill St. W., in downtown Cannon Falls.
