Deloris Freeberg

Deloris Adele Freeberg, age 90 of Cannon Falls, died on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Cannon Falls Medical Center. Deloris was born on June 11, 1920 in Aldrich, MN, the daughter of John Leonard Anderson and Ida Clarinda (Swanson) Anderson. She came with her parents to the Spring Garden area at 16 months of age, and attended public schools in the area. She worked at housekeeping for six years before marrying. She married Wilbur L. Freeberg on June 2, 1945 at the Spring Garden Lutheran Church, where they continued their membership until 1974. Deloris taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and served in the offices for Willing Workers of Spring Garden Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Spring Garden area, and she was a 4-H leader, and a member of the Farmers Union. She was a homemaker, and made and decorated wedding cakes during their farming years. She enjoyed sewing, especially doing alterations and mending, in her home from 1973 on, and while a resident of Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls for the past 8 years. She loved to garden and shovel snow. They moved to Zumbrota in 1973, and became members at the United Redeemer Lutheran Church. Her husband, Wilbur died on October 15, 1981. She is survived by her daughters, Diane K. Dierke of Cannon Falls, and Beverly A. Steberg of Northfield; two grandchildren, Boyce R. Johnson of Madison, WI, and Jennifer K. (John) Freed of Northfield with great-grandchildren, Dale, Lucas and Amber; sisters, Harriet Jackson of Good Hart, Michigan and Glennis (Harlan) Swanson of Hastings; sister-in-law, Glorian Anderson of Cannon Falls; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Leonard and Ida C. Anderson; husband, Wilbur; and brother, Eldon M. Anderson. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Redeemer Lutheran Church, 560 W. 3rd St., Zumbrota. Following a luncheon at church, interment will take place at Spring Garden Lutheran Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation on Wednesday at church from 12-1 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Rodney, Forrest, Royce, Bradley, Travis and Timothy Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Steven and Michael Swanson, Jeffrey Jackson, Donovan Anderson, Boyce Johnson, Jennifer and John Freed, Dale, Lucas and Amber.
