Deloris Berg

March 28, 1926 — March 21, 2008

Deloris Arlene Berg, age 81 of Cannon Falls, died on Friday morning, March 21, 2008 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, where she has been a resident for the past four years.

Deloris was born on March 28, 1926 in Cannon Falls, the daughter of Arthur and Emily (Feldt) Pagel. A life long resident of Cannon Falls, she married Arleigh O. Berg on March 24, 1945 in Faribault.

She had many things she loved. Most importantly, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Next was time spent at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church and a short period they belonged to Wangen Prairie Lutheran Church. She spent many years teaching Sunday School, Bible School, being a Bible study leader and was active in women's groups. She loved working with children, doing this through all the time she spent in Cub Scouts as Den Mother, Brownies, Brownie Day Camp and Girl Scouts leader. She was a homemaker until all of her children were in school.

Her love of book work started when she worked for Johnson and Johnson Law Offices, and Reese, Winter, and Erickson doing taxes and book work. Her love of cooking lead to part-time work at the CannonBall, WestWind and Little Oscar's, doing many jobs, the last was her favorite... book work. Here teenagers and adults became her good friends.

Her last love was nature, which she got from her father and passed on to her children. It was here she found God, in flowers, lakes, sunsets, northern lights, rainbows, and especially birds (bluebirds)!

She had many hobbies, including sports, sewing, crewel and cross stitch, latch hooking, reading, games, puzzles, indoor plants, and stamp collecting.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol Berg and partner, Leonard Anderson of Woodbury; three sons, Arleigh Jr. (Barbara) Berg and Mark (Lynne) Berg, all of Cannon Falls, and Allyn (Janet) Berg of Zumbrota; 8 grandchildren, Lisa (Jeff) Boucher of Austin, Benjamin (Maria) Berg of Reedsburg, WI, William Berg of Cannon Falls, Megan (Luke) Culbertson of Charleston, SC, Alicia Berg of Pine Island, Melissa and Brian Berg, both of Zumbrota, and Dana (Justin) Evans of Wheatland, WY; 5 great grandchildren, Justin and Jared Boucher of Austin, Alex Berg of Red Wing; Shyanne and Laramee Evans, both of Wheatland, WY; sister, Beverly Garrett of Lake City; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arleigh on July 11, 1982; her parents; a very special grandson, David Berg; brother-in-law, Clifford Garrett; and two special aunts, Ella Lejonvarn and Thresa Pagel.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 25 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Gary Schulz and Pastor Dorothy Sandahl officiating.

Interment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, and the Trondhjem Community Preservation Society, Lonsdale.

Pallbearers will be Sheldon Berg, Mahlon Hillebrand II, Sondra Jensen, Grant and Scott Lejonvarn, and Rosalie Pearson.
