Delores B. Rumpca Zubke, age 89 of Cannon Falls, MN and formerly of Waubay, South Dakota, died on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at her residence in Cannon Falls.
Delores was born on May 12, 1918 in Fillmore, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter and Bernardine (Anderson) Fickler. She attended school in Webster and graduated from Webster High School, Webster, SD. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Alter Society, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay, SD and most recently St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls. She was also active at the Waubay Senior Center, Waubay, SD.
Delores would marry August Rumpca on October 4, 1939 in Waubay, SD at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He would precede her in death on July 19, 1975. She would marry Harold Zubke on July 14, 1984 in Waubay, SD at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He would precede her in death on June 3, 1988.
Delores is lovingly survived by her children, Larry (Leslyan) Rumpca of Holbrook, AZ, Lois (Gary) Chapman of Cannon Falls, MN, Lynn (Donna) Rumpca of Silver Bay, MN, Loren (Catherine) Rumpca of Coon Valley, WI and Lee (Robyn) Rumpca of Maplewood, MN; her grandchildren, Jazan (Eric) Wuest, Kimberly (Matt) Conzelman, Tamara Chapman, Robert (Julie) Chapman, Christopher (Angela) Chapman, Michelle (Russ) Schmid, Nicole Rumpca, Stacy (Josh) Ligon, Jay Rumpca, Erica (Brad) Vesbach and Brooke (Russell) Mikelson; 10 great-grandchildren; her brother, LaVerne "Bud" (Barbara) Fickler of Long Beach, CA; her sister, Lorraine Nelson of Victorville, CA; her step-children, Gary Zubke of Waubay, SD, Carol (Jim) Weyh of Watertown, SD and Terry (Amy) Zubke of Waubay, SD; 7 step-grandchildren; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend, Francis Pischke.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, August and Harold; infant sister; brother, Lloyd Fickler; and sister, Dorothy Schneider.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 17 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Waubay, SD. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 5-7 p.m., with 7 p.m. wake prayers.
Interment will follow at the Lakewood Cemetery in Waubay, SD.
Active casketbearers will be Larry, Lynn, Loren and Lee Rumpca, Robert Chapman and Terry Zubke.
