David Harold Godfrey, Sr., age 71, died on November. 19, 2006 at home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer.
David was born on February 14, 1935 in Castle Rock, near Northfield, the son of Margaret (Henderson) and Harold Godfrey. He attended Cannon Falls Schools and later married Ruth M. Chester on September 20, 1958 in Stanton. Over the years David has worked as a farmer, had his own milk route, did excavating and retired from Lambert Yards, Wimco and Interstate Building Supply.
His hobby was working with wood. He liked to make all kinds of crafts and furniture. He was a member of Stanton United Methodist Church.
David is lovingly survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth; children Gwen Flom of Dennison, David (Alison) Godfrey, Jr. of Cannon Falls, Peter (Theresa) Godfrey of Apple Valley; eight grandchildren, Becky, Michael, Cody, Logan, Tegan, Corbin, Morgan and Tony; two great grandchildren, Gordon and Graant; also by many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister Joyce (Godfrey) Johnson.
A Celebration of David's Life will be 1 pm Wednesday November 22 at the Stanton United Methodist Church, Stanton, MN. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 21 from 4 to 8 pm AT THE STANTON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Stanton and continue 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Inurnment at a later date in Stanton Cemetery.
