Clark A. “Butch” Westvik, 57 of Hastings, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis following a lengthy illness.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the First English Lutheran Church, 511 W. Belle Street in Cannon Falls with the Reverend Phillip Ruud, officiating. The Lundberg Funeral Home of Cannon Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Clark “Butch” Westvik was born March 26, 1952 in West Seattle, Washington, the son of Mark E. Westvik and Betty L. Davidson-Fry. He moved with his family at an early age to a farm near Sogn, Minnesota and attended Kenyon Schools. He later attended Golden Valley Lutheran College. Butch served in the United States Army in Berlin during the Vietnam War. He was later re-enlisted and served at Ft. Lewis, Washington, in Germany, Alaska. He was united in marriage to Valerie Mischke on January 5, 1976. The couple made their home in Northern Minnesota for a short time before moving to the Hastings area. Butch was a gear jammer and was passionate about driving truck. He and his wife drove together for a couple of years. He also worked as a bartender for many area establishments and also at Treasure Island. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing, sitting under the stars, movies with his grandson and Jeopardy with his friends. Butch had a big heart, an ear for Ole and Lena and a passion for life.
Butch is survived by his wife, Valerie, sons; Jacob W. & P.J. all of Hastings, two grandchildren, Brady & Cody, his father, Mark Westvik of Cannon Falls, his brothers; Curtis of Cannon falls, Cory of San Diego, CA, Rick Westvik of Oregon, Sam Fry of Seattle, Washington and his sister, Tina (Wayne) Haddemham of Puallup, Washington.
