Christopher Dobson, age 60, of Cannon Falls, was found deceased on Saturday, December 7, 2024, after having gone missing on Monday, December 2, 2024
Christopher Jon Dobson was born on September 13, 1964 in Williamsport, PA, the son of Richard and Patricia (Horrigan) Dobson. They lived several places along the East Coast, until moving to Duluth, MN, with his mother and siblings at the age of 6. Chris grew up in Duluth, graduating from Denfeld High School in 1983. He then enlisted in the Air Force where he served a tour in Iraq, participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was honorably discharged as a Tech Sergeant in 2016. Between his two Air Force stints, Chris went to school at the University of Minnesota Duluth, earning a Bachelor’s of Applied Arts in Teaching Secondary Social Studies with a minor in Political Science.
Chris worked as a substitute teacher and as a Military Security Guard and Supervisor, for the Minnesota Department of Military Affairs, for over twenty years. Chris was very patriotic, and proud of his military service. He was also quite interested in politics, and had recently been a candidate for the school board in Cannon Falls. He was passionate about animal rescue, and about spending time with his family. Chris had formerly volunteered for the Animal Ark in Hastings. Other interests included weightlifting, history, and the environment. He was an avid hiker, walking his dog, Jack, several times a day. Chris will be remembered a a kind soul, a devoted husband, and one who was always willing to help others.
Survivors include his wife Frances Truitt, step-daughter Audrey Truitt, step-son David Truitt, siblings Curtis Dobson, Jaime (Fran) Ansell, Cindy Dobson, Charles Dobson, and half-brother Erich Dobson; mother-in-law Joyce Truitt, sister-in-law Karen Truitt, and brother-in-law Paul Truitt; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the River Bluff Humane Society in Goodhue County, or the Animal Ark in Hastings.
