Cheryl Arlene Novotny, 80, beloved spouse, mother, sibling, and dear friend, passed away peacefully at Salmons’ Place Senior Care in Alexandria, MN on February 7, 2025. Cheryl was born on August 15, 1944 in Red Wing, MN to Clayton Rainerson and Deloris Hanson. Deloris later married Warren Ritchie, who raised Cheryl and her brothers Wayne and Roger. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1962, and she went on to marry Richard Novotny on May 31, 1969. Together they spent their early years raising two children, Cary and DeAnn, in the Cannon Falls area until permanently moving to Evansville, MN in the early 1980s.

 Cheryl enjoyed Crafting including sewing, making cards, scrapbooking and creating gifts for family and friends alike. She loved spending her free time doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, and watching Vikings football. She also adored family time, especially with her grandsons Riley and Derick.

She is survived by her spouse Richard; son Cary (Monica) Novotny; daughter DeAnn Carlsen; grandsons Riley Carlsen and Derick Novotny; brothers Wayne (Judy) and Roger (Penny), and close cousins Gloria Clauson and Will Clauson. She also is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

 A memorial service will be held at First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls on Monday, February 17, 2025. Visitation begins at 12 noon, followed by a church service at 1 pm. Interment will immediately follow at St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery. Richard currently resides at Brandon Assisted Living (305 Central Avenue South, Brandon, MN 56315).
