Catherine Ann Huisman, age 84 of Red Wing, died on Monday morning, January 10, 2022 at her daughter's home in Hampton.
Catherine was born the youngest of ten children to Joseph and Euphrasia (Kaster) Deprey on November 17, 1937 in Bellevue, WI. She worked at home, raising six children. Once they were grown, she worked various jobs in the communities she lived.
A devout Catholic, Catherine was active at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville. She was known for her beautiful floral gardens that were a large part of her yard. You could often find her working in the garden and sharing plants with others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Dewight Reck; and siblings, Veronica Gnadt, Joseph and John Deprey, and Phyllis Deprey.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Leandra) of Stacy, John (Claire) of Burnsville, Mary Reck of Hampton, Ann (James) Kittelsen of Stacy, Eileen (Keith) Niehaus of Clarksville, IA, and Joe (Sandra) Huisman of Broomfield, CO; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 5 siblings, Bernard (Irene) Deprey, Ann Deprey, Joan Hogan, Mary Rose Deprey, and Ceil Deprey; and many nieces and nephews.
A Latin Requiem Mass will be held on Friday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m., with visitation from 9:30-10:30 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville, with Fr. Cassian DiRocco celebrating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Tom, John, and Joe Huisman, Keith Niehaus, James Kittelsen, and Karl Girdeen.
