Carol Ann Wangen, at the age of 63 years died peacefully at her home in rural Dennison on Sunday, November 15, 2009.
Carol Ann Winslow was born on November 8, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Glenn and Maxine (Manley) Winslow. She grew up in the Village of Fillmore and graduated from Wykoff High School in 1964. She worked at Mayo Clinic as a medical records clerk, and later at Novartis Seeds as a research technician until her health forced her to retire.
She married LaVerne Wangen on July 2, 1976 in Wykoff. They moved to rural Dennison where they enjoyed the home they built, and for over 28 years, they enjoyed traveling together and all outdoor activities: fishing, camping, water skiing, horseback riding, and gardening. She had a special love for children and was like a second mother to her nieces and nephews. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls and served on various committees there.
She is survived by her mother, Maxine Winslow of Wykoff; two sisters, Jeri O'Byrne and Marilyn (Scott) Snell, and one brother, Wayne (Ginger) Winslow, all of Wykoff; two sisters-in-law, Dolly (Luther) Quale of Cannon Falls and Judy (Bob) Iverson of St. Paul Park; four step children and six step grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her father.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Phillip Ruud and Pastor Dan Forsgren officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Fillmore Cemetery in Fillmore, MN, with refreshments following at the Fillmore Free Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. There will also be visitation at the church on Thursday from 10-11 a.m.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society and the First English Lutheran Church.
Active casketbearers will be nephews, Andrew Erding, Seth Snell, Adam Hanson, Blaise Niemeyer, Hunter Niemeyer, Larry and Steve Aamodt.
