Carmen Howe Munro, 87 of Cannon Falls, formerly of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester following a short illness.
Carmen Howe Munro was born March 29, 1920 in New Richmond, Wisconsin, the daughter of Louis and Caroline (Hulverson) Howe. She lived for a time in New Richmond and moved with her family to Saint Paul where she received her education. Following her schooling, she was employed by the Saint Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company. In October of 1949, she was united in marriage to Hugh L. Munro, the couple made their home in St. Paul until moving to Cannon Falls in 1954, where she raised her family. In 1981, the couple made moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas until returning to Cannon Falls in October of 2003.
Carmen had been a member of the Eastern Star, was an active member of the First Congregational Church and particularly enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling with her husband and visiting with friends and neighbors.
Carmen is survived by her two sons, Hugh L. Munro, Jr., of Springfield, Missouri, and Jim (Eileen) Munro of Carrollton, Texas; her brother, Clare (Josephine) Howe of San Jose, California; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Leon and Paulette Hanson, Meghann, Gavin and Mackenzie, all of Cannon Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh; and three brothers, Gilmore, Newell and Stuart.
