Byron James "Barney" Flom, age 69, a lifelong resident of Cannon Falls, died at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, August 3, 2024.
Barney was born on November 3, 1954 in Red Wing, the son of Eugene "Gene" and Roberta "Bobbie" (Larson) Flom. He graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1973.
He married Sheryl Lamberty on March 1, 1980 at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls, and they raised three children.
Barney worked with Schwanz Land Surveying in Rosemount for 32 years, and later worked at Gopher Hills Golf Course and Banks Outdoors until retiring.
He enjoyed all Minnesota sports and could be found in his favorite place, his garage, watching the game, sharing his man cave with family and friends, or listening to his favorite music. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him!
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl; children, Tony and his wife, Aimee and Samantha and husband, Joshua Robinson, all of Cannon Falls, and Alex of Woodbury; grandchildren, Jacob and Morgan Robinson; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Allen Erickson; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Marcia Flom; mother-in-law, Paralee Lamberty; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Chris Klahr and Diane and Bruce Brage; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Bobbie Flom; father-in-law, George Lamberty; and brothers-in-law, Kevin Lamberty and Ron Klahr.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, August 8 at 2:00 pm, with visitation from 12:00-2:00 pm, at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, 7459 Hwy 19 Blvd, Cannon Falls. The service will be livestreamed and available to watch below.

Memorials may be given in his memory to the American Lung Association, John Burch Park renovation, and American Legion-VFW renovation.
