Bruce Thomas Kreutzian, age 81, of Cannon Falls, died on Thursday morning, September 26, 2024 at the VA Medical Center, Minneapolis.
Bruce was born the youngest of six children on August 1, 1943, in Bone Lake, WI, to Thomas and Sophie (Oeffler) Kreutzian. He graduated from Luck High School in Wisconsin. Bruce joined the US Navy in 1962 where he proudly served as an engine mechanic on the aircraft carrier the USS Shangri-La. He married Nancy Larsen on August 10, 1964 and they moved to Florida where they stayed until he was honorably discharged in 1965. They left Florida for Minnesota, living for a short time in Minneapolis, then Prior Lake, where they bought their first home. They eventually settled in Cannon Falls in the early 1970’s. He was a member of St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls and active in the Lions Club. He worked for many years as a diesel mechanic until retirement with Interstate Diesel in Bloomington.
Bruce enjoyed camping and traveling with Nancy in their RV, and especially enjoyed visiting the Gold Coast and Branson. They loved seeing their grandchildren, visiting son Todd and family in Colorado, and time with their many friends. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, camping with Todd and Jill and friends where he was known for building outrageously huge bon-fires. He chaperoned many trips to the BWCA with St. Ansgar’s youth groups. Throughout his life he loved fishing and enjoyed the Minnesota opener with friends, many salmon fishing trips to WI, walleye fishing to South Dakota and ice fishing trips up north.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of nearly 60 years, Nancy who passed on February 11, 2024; sister, Lorraine Volk; brothers, Jim, Dick, Art and Bob; brother-in-law, Robert Larsen; and niece, Lori Cullen.
He is survived by his children, Jill (Jerry) Serres and Todd (Stephanie Villano) Kreutzian; grandchildren, Sean (Alexandra Brown) Serres, Alexandra (fiancé, Ryan Lindfors) Serres, Owen Kreutzian, and Isla Kreutzian; sisters-in-law, Shirley Kongshaug and Delores Larsen, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the DAV of MN Foundation or Wounded Warrior Project.
