Bernice Rounds

Bernice Francis “Bunny” Rounds, age 91 of Cannon Falls, died on Friday morning, January 2, 2009 at the Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, where she has been residing the past four years.

Bunny was born on October 19, 1917 in Bertha, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Elnora Ann (Crooks) Sahli. She married Kenneth A. Rounds on August 26, 1940 at Blue Grass, Minnesota.

Bunny enjoyed sewing and was a well-known seamstress, making everything from baby blankets to designer suits. She had also worked as activity director for 5 years at a nursing home in Mendota Heights. She and her husband owned and operated the Rounds Nursery for 25 years in Mendota Heights, Eagan and Cannon Falls.

She and Ken enjoyed traveling to Arizona, where they wintered in Valle Del Oro for many years. She also enjoyed gardening, landscaping and boating.

She was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, and a former member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mendota.

Bunny was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of nearly 65 years, Ken on March 9, 2005; and son, Gregory Rounds on November 13, 2008.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Durr of Moline, IL; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Rounds of Eagan; six grandchildren, Ryan and Ross Rounds, Elsa Durr, Michael (Karen) Durr, Reuben and Samuel Durr; two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Jonis Foster; and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 5 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11:00 a.m., at St. Pius V Catholic Church in Cannon Falls, with Father Leonard Siebenaler officiating. Lunch will follow directly in the church basement.

Spring interment will be held at the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Angels Care Center, 300 N. Dow St., Cannon Falls, MN 55009.
