Bernice Olson

Bernice Blanche (Treichler) Olson, age 91 of Welch, died on Saturday morning, March 5, 2011 at the Zumbrota Health Care Center. Bernice was born on January 15, 1920 in St. Cloud, MN, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Kammerer) Treichler. She graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1937 and went on to Normal teacherA�A�A½s training in Cannon Falls. After receiving her certificate, she taught in various rural schools including Wastedo, Spring Garden, and Welch, and Miesville and Vermillion parochial schools. She retired in 1986. She married Paul R. Olson on June 9, 1945 at St. JosephA�A�A½s Catholic Church in Red Wing, and they continued to live on the Olson family farm throughout their marriage. She was an active member of St. JosephA�A�A½s Catholic Church in Miesville, where she had served as circle leader and was active in the Rosary Society. She had also served as an election judge for Vasa Township for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Lester A�A�A½ButchA�A�A½ Treichler; and sister, Dolores Anderson. She is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Paul; daughters, Bonnie (Carl) Granquist of Shoreline, WA, Paulette (John) Sutherland of Casper, WY, and Judy (Rocky) Ramboldt of Goodhue; 8 grandchildren, Erin (Sonesh) Chainani, Ben Billings, Rebekah (Jeffrey) Stout, Hannah (Angel) Acosta, Claire and Carl Granquist, Anna and Laura Ramboldt; 3 great-grandchildren, twins Uma and Kaveen Chainani, and Zinnia Acosta; sister-in-law, Harriet Schammel of Red Wing; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. JosephA�A�A½s Catholic Church in Miesville, with Father Jay K. Kythe celebrating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 pm AT THE CHURCH, as well as on Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Active pallbearers will be Ben Billings, Craig Anderson, Luke Olson, George Schammel, Duane Daley and Terry Schmitz. Memorials are preferred to St. JosephA�A�A½s Catholic Church in Miesville.
