Beatrice Longtin

November 16, 1917 — December 13, 2016

Beatrice Esther Longtin, age 99 of Northfield, died on Tuesday evening, December 13, 2016 at the Northfield Care Center. Beatrice was born on November 16, 1917 in Marshall, MN, the daughter of Stanley and Helen (Tassler) Popowski. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1935. Bea married Ronald Longtin on January 12, 1942 in Marshall, and they raised five children together. Bea managed women's clothing stores for many years. She was a voracious reader and loved John Lescroart novels. While living in Brainerd, she participated in Bridge Club, and was always active in her church. Her passion was spending time with her family and friends. She made friends with many and retained those friendships throughout the years. She had a good sense of humor and plenty of spunk, which continued in her senior years. Her nurses described her as a person of class and style. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron; son, John; and two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her children, Ron Jr. (Phyllis) of Sequim, WA, Kate Conner of West Lebanon, NH, Mark (Anita) of Sioux Falls, SD, and Mike (Rhonda) of St. Cloud; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held on Monday, December 19 at 10:30 a.m. at the Northfield Retirement Community Chapel, 900 Cannon Valley Dr., Northfield. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., Assembly Area #2. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred in Beatrice's name to www.operationhomefront.net.
