Barbara Ann Friedrich, age 71 of Cannon Falls, died on Saturday evening, February 18, 2012 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield. Barbara was born on May 1, 1940 in Bedford, Virginia, the daughter of Floyd and Dorothy E. Orange. She was raised in Virginia and moved to Minnesota when she was 16 years old. She married Gordon D. Friedrich in South Dakota and have been married for 32 years. They moved to Cannon Falls in 1997. She had been a homemaker throughout her life, but she was also employed as a bartender at VFW and Eagles Clubs in the surrounding area. Most recently, she was with the Cannon Falls VFW until retiring. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Cannon Falls. She loved gardening, canning, cooking, camping, fishing and feeding the birds.
She will be lovingly remembered and truly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Gordon; five children, Teresa (Clifford) Ennis of Faribault, Larry Borst Jr. (fiancé, Michele Caswell) of Rochester, Michael (Connie) Borst of Faribault, Lisa (Scott) Engen of Castle Rock, and Todd (Renee) Almen of Faribault; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; three step-daughters, Crystal Meyer of Northfield, Gale (Arthur) Karow and Jan (Wayne) Wilmes, all of Waterville; 5 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy (James) Bryant of Bedford, VA; many nieces and nephews; and loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 24 at 1:00 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls, with Pastor Daniel Forsgren officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Cannon Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., with a VFW Ladies Auxiliary honor ceremony at 12:45 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
