Arlene Engler

Arlene Mae (White) Engler, age 85, a resident of Cannon Falls, entered into eternal life on Wednesday morning, October 20, 2010 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Arlene was born at home in Rice County on October 10, 1925, the daughter of Jessie and Adelaide (Tolzmann) White. She graduated as Salutatorian from Morristown High School in 1943 and became a teacher in small rural schools in Rice County. Arlene met Charles Engler and they married in a large celebration on June 4, 1955 at Bethel Baptist Church in Mankato. Arlene worked at Randolph elementary schools from 1969 to 1984. She enjoyed crocheting, singing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Arlene is survived by her children; Alvin (Diane) Engler of Spring Grove, IL, Pam (Tom) Lavin of Plattsburgh, NY, Larry (Karen) Engler of Randolph, Vernon Engler of Waukegen, IL and Andy (Karen) Engler of Randolph; 7 grandchildren; Sarah and William Engler, Charles, Matthew and Renee Tetreault and Sophia and Hannah Engler; brothers, Jerome, Arvid, Philip and Fred White; sisters, Thelma Derby, Jean Ludeman, Elaine Laun, Ione Doerbaum, Genevieve Delk and Ruth Ann Pearson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles on July 1, 1987; son Mark Engler; daughter, Ann Marie Engler and sister; Eleanor Erdmann. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 24 from 4-7 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls and one hour prior to service at church. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Randolph, with Pastor Steven Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Randolph. Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army or Union Gospel Mission.
