Alyce Gruber

Alyce Gruber was born on January 27, 1935 in Red Wing, the daughter of Arthur and Deloris (Lohman) Forsell. She grew up on a farm in Belle Creek, MN. She went to school until the eighth grade and then started work at the Belle Creek Store. She then moved to Red Wing with her sister Ardelaine. She waited tables at the West End Café until she began working at the Red Wing Shoe Factory, where she worked for 43 years. She retired and worked part time at Econo Foods for six years before retiring completely.

Alyce got married on April 25, 1957 to Alois (Al) John Keppers in Spring Creek Lutheran Church. They were married for 15 ½ years. She then married Bernard A. Peterson, which lasted for 11 years. She married Edward D. Gruber on June 8, 1984. They lived in the Welch area most of the last 33 ½ years until her death on March 27, 2018.

Alyce was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Vasa Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother Deloris Forsell Scholling, father Arthur Forsell, step-father Arthur Scholling, brothers Raymond and Robert Forsell, sister Ardelaine (Forsell) Stumpf, and stepson Daniel Gruber. Survivors include her husband Edward Gruber, son Jerry Keppers, daughters Dawn Gruber Clemens, Deloris Gruber Clemens, and Deborah Gruber Ruby; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-7:00 pm, Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Lundberg Funeral Home, 5839 Highway 19 Blvd., Cannon Falls, MN  55009. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Vasa Lutheran Church, 15235 Norelius Rd., Welch, MN  55089. There will also be a visitation at the church from 10-11:00 am on Saturday, prior to the service. Interment will be in the Vasa Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
